What's New: You can now set the RIPE status attribute yourself

If you rent a RIPE IPv6 prefix from us, you can now set its status attribute in the RIPE Database yourself.

The option is available on the service page. To change it later, click the edit icon next to the Org Handle setting.


Which one should you pick?

  • ASSIGNED: right choice for most users. Pick this if you're not sure what to choose.

  • ALLOCATED-BY-LIR : pick this if you need to create sub-blocks under your prefix in the RIPE Database.


A note if you go with ALLOCATED-BY-LIR

Any sub-block you create under it should be registered as ASSIGNED. Nested ALLOCATED-BY-LIR sub-blocks are NOT allowed.

If you already have nested ALLOCATED-BY-LIR sub-blocks under your prefixes, please tidy them up before 1st August 2026.
